MLS: State of the league 2006


The Big News
- MLS will play a 30-game schedule
- There will be a soon-to-be-announced Mexico-United States club tournament
- There will not be a single table nor will there be a split season next year
- The top two teams in each conference will make the playoffs; of the remaining nine teams, the four with the most points, regardless of conference, will also qualify
- The playoff format will not change
- Possible Expansion Sites: Atlanta, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Rochester, San Diego, San Jose, St. Louis and Seattle








Your MVP:

In other news, Christian Gomez was named the MLS MVP for 2006, ahead of Dwayne DeRosario and Jeff Cunningham. He finished the season with 14 goals, 11 assists and 2 play-off goals.
